Getting to Know You...
Each month we will "Get to Know" one of our fantastic clients a little better by plonking them in our interview chair, (think a comfy chaise lounge rather than the famous Mastermind chair) and asking them to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences with us by taking our not too serious questionnaire. This month we "Get to Know"...
NAME: Julia Munrow
Years with Stage Centre: 20
If you were marooned on a desert island what would be your one luxury item you'd bring with you and why?
Photos of my family – to keep me happy
On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being absolutely not and 10 being definitely, how do you feel about pineapple on pizza?
First Acting Job – Last Acting Job?
First – a terrible production of Trojan Women at the Drill Hall
Last – preview performance of Amorous Tales from Shakespeare …hopefully just a pause and not the last ever performance
What would your Super Power be?
How do you relax?
Who would play you in the film of your life?
You are up on stage to collect your best Actor Oscar...You’ve thanked the usual ie Family, Agent, Film crew etc….Who else do you thank?
My drama teacher at school Miss Skinner
Where were you trained?
What is your most treasured possession?
Poetry book my son gave me
What one piece of advice would you give your younger Acting/Performing self?
Please tell us of a career highlight?
Playing Katerina Ivanovna at the Barbican Bite festival in Russian in The Idiot
(Favourite role and favourite book but also the scariest thing ever)
Performance role model?
Do you have a favorite genre of the Performing Arts? Why?
Stage . because it’s more immediate - and they can’t edit you out.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing...Anything you would do differently, career-wise?
The one thing I always thought I’d like to do differently was to go straight to drama school
Instead of being forced into doing a degree by my play safe parents - but as it turns out pretending to be Russian has turned out to be my USP so maybe they were right after all.
So I wouldn’t DO anything differently, but I would have liked to have BEEN more confident.
Many thanks to Julia for taking part.
Next time we "Get to Know" our talented MT Actress CHLOE SHIMMIN...
